Bisa Kdei is a popular highlife musician
Ghanaian highlife musician, Bisa Kdei, has ruled out any possibility of venturing into politics, stating that his passion remains firmly rooted in music.
Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime on March 26, 2026, he noted that although he has opinions about governance, he does not see himself taking up a political role.
“I’ve never thought of going into politics; I can’t handle it. I just want to always be a musician,” he said.
Despite his disinterest in politics, Bisa Kdei expressed concern about challenges within the music industry, particularly with the operations of GHAMRO.
According to him, if given the opportunity, he would focus on making meaningful changes within the royalties collection and distribution system.

“If I’m given the chance, I have a few things that I would want to change at GHAMRO. I’ve been advocating for this and I said the system is not really working for musicians,” he stated.
The musician further revealed that early in his career, he had the privilege of learning from industry players who taught him how to properly monetise music beyond streaming platforms.
“At a very early stage, I met very good people who taught me about the music industry properly. How to make money with your music, not just on streams, but how to collect your royalties,” he shared.
However, he believes the situation in Ghana is different, as many musicians do not receive what is rightfully theirs.
“When it comes to Ghana, I think when the royalties are being collected, it doesn’t get to the right people. The way they share the money is somehow. The system needs to be there,” he added.
