Gyakie is a popular Ghanaian songstress
Ghanaian singer and songwriter Gyakie has become the most-followed Ghanaian female artiste on Spotify after surpassing the one million follower mark on the global streaming platform.
The achievement was confirmed by Spotify for Artists, which sent the singer an official notification acknowledging the milestone.
"You did it. You just hit 1,000,000 followers on Spotify. That's 1,000,000 real people who are now awaiting your next release," the platform's message read.
With this milestone, Gyakie joins a select group of Ghanaian artistes who have achieved significant follower counts on the platform, including male counterparts Black Sherif and Sarkodie, both of whom have similarly built strong presences on Spotify's global stage.
Black Sherif revealed as Spotify’s most-streamed Ghanaian artiste over 5 years
The one million follower achievement is not the only major record Gyakie has been racking up.
Her debut album 'After Midnight' has also made history, with the project becoming the first by a Ghanaian female artiste to appear on the Apple Music Top Albums chart.
Spotify also recognised her broader impact, highlighting her “exceptional growth, international reach and role in showcasing Ghanaian music to the world.”
