Fati Ali Yallah and her client Kofi Owusu have been warned to retract their statement
Legal counsel for Akosua Serwaa and Papa Shee, Kulendi Law (Maalo Chambers), has written a strongly worded letter to Baba Jamal & Associates, the law firm representing Kofi Owusu, alleging “significant inaccuracies” in a press statement issued following a court hearing on 25th March, 2026.
The statement by Kofi Owusu’s lawyers warned that any event centre, vendors, or suppliers involved in hosting a “Celebration of Life” for the late Daddy Lumba could face legal action for contempt of court. They claimed the High Court in Accra had upheld an interlocutory injunction restraining individuals including Akosua Serwaa Schindler, Nana Yaw Akosa, Ernestina Fosu, and Wofa Yaw Poku from organising or hosting such events.

In a letter dated 26th March, 2026, addressed to Fati Ali Yallah of Baba Jamal & Associates, Akosua Serwaa’s lawyers stated that the announcement misrepresented the court’s ruling, amounting to “a clear mischaracterisation of the Court's decision.”
They clarified that the injunction applied only to a programme titled “The Celebration of Life of Charles Kwadwo Fosu (a.k.a. Daddy Lumba)” and did not extend to other celebrations of life, contrary to the implication of the press statement.
“These comments are most regrettable and wholly inaccurate, and they constitute the gravest distortion and perversion of the Court's order, calculated to misinform the public as to the true state of affairs in relation to this suit. Left unaddressed, these mischaracterisations risk unfairly casting the Honourable Court and the esteemed justice in a prejudicial or partial light, thereby undermining the administration of justice and exposing the Court to unwarranted ridicule,” the letter stated.
Kulendi Law also disputed assertions that Victor Kofi Owusu Boahene is the ‘current’ head of the family, describing this characterisation as “most unfortunate and wholly unfounded” and cautioning that it threatened the ethical standards of the legal profession.
The letter further argued that even if Owusu Boahene were considered the Abusuapanyin, such a position does not confer eligibility to obtain Letters of Administration, rendering any claim over the estate of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosu legally untenable. The lawyers warned that such an action “borders on criminality” and may constitute the crime of intermeddling.
Kulendi Law demanded that the opposing counsel correct the misrepresentations and adhere to the highest traditions of the Bar. Failing this, they indicated they would pursue a possible contempt action against Fati Ali Yallah personally.
