CID boss Lydia Donkor (M) calls Stonebwoy (L) and Shatta Wale (R) her 'sons' over past guidance
Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department, Commissioner of Police (COP), Lydia Yaako Donkor, has explained why she refers to both Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale as her “sons.”
In an interview on StarrFM on March 26, 2026, Lydia Yaako Donkor said a couple of years ago, both artistes got into trouble, and she was the one who handled their cases, which is why she calls them her sons.
“I call them my sons, and they’re my sons because a couple of years ago they both got into trouble and I handled their matter. They’re interesting guys—Stonebwoy calls me ‘big mama,’ and Shatta calls me ‘mommy,’” she said.
She further noted that she enjoys the music of both artistes, adding that her favourite from Stonebwoy’s catalogue is 'Tuff Seed', while from Shatta Wale’s it is 'Street Crown'.
She went on to recall that when Shatta Wale made 'Street Crown', he sent it to her, and she passed judgment on it before it was even released to the public.

“I love their music as well, Shatta and Stone. Stonebwoy has lots of music I love, but one of my favourites I have is Tuff Seed, and then Shatta’s most recent, Street Crown. When he made that one, he sent it to me, and I listened to it. I said, ‘This is amazing.’ So I was like, ‘it looks like it’s something that you partnered with a European artiste or something,’” she added.
