Pop Smoke’s family will be opening up a coffee shop in New York City to honor his legacy, six years after his passing.

The new spot, called Pop’s Place, will be located in Canarsie, the neighborhood where the Brooklyn native grew up.

Earlier this month, Obasi Jackson, who is Pop’s brother, announced the details surrounding the new move on Instagram and called for experienced baristas to join the team.

“We’re looking for experienced baristas ready to be part of something special. Serious inquiries only,” he wrote.

Should a major change or update happen in relation to this story, we are sure to keep you posted.

For now, it looks like preparations are already underway, with an address, menu, and official opening date being the elements yet to be revealed.

On Tuesday (March 31), a free pop-up event will serve as a soft launch for Pop’s Place at 1454 Rockaway Parkway, and attendees can buy exclusive merchandise and sample a food menu.

“We chose Tuesday with intention,” said an Instagram post advertising the event. “Pop was born on a Tuesday, so every time we come together like this, it means something. This is not just a pop-up. This is how we keep his name alive. If you know, you’re already pulling up. If you don’t, this is where you need to be.”

Pop Smoke was born Bashar Barakah Jackson and was murdered in February 2020 at age 20 during a home invasion in Los Angeles.

About a year ago in February 2025, Corey Walker, the final defendant in the case, was sentenced to 29 years in prison.

This coffee shop, opened by the family of Pop Smoke, is one that will remind multiple fans of what he stood for and represented when he was alive, and it is something many are looking forward to in the coming months.
