Afua Asantewaa wants the public to treat her marriage matter with sensitivity
Ghanaian media personality and two-time Guinness World Record singathon contender Afua Asantewaa has issued a formal press statement to address public speculations on the state of her marriage.
In the statement released on April 4, 2026, Afua Asantewaa confirmed that she and her husband, sports journalist Kofi Owusu Aduonum, are no longer together, while urging the public to treat the development with sensitivity.
"I wish to formally confirm that my husband and I are no longer together. This decision was reached privately and with careful consideration, and I kindly request that this transition be treated with the sensitivity it deserves," she wrote.
The influencer also pushed back against what she described as inaccurate speculations circulating in the media.
"I would like to categorically state that many of these assertions are inaccurate and do not reflect the truth of the situation," she said.
She urged the public and media to refrain from speculation.
Addressing claims that she has been ungrateful, Afua replied: "I am, and have always been, deeply appreciative of every individual, opportunity, and experience that has contributed to my journey."
The statement, which closed with an apology for any unintended distress caused by her public expressions, marks the first formal acknowledgment of what had been swirling as rumours for months.
Speculations about Afua Asantewaa's marriage began circulating as early as 2025, with cryptic comments and videos shared on her social media.
In March 2026, she revealed that she and her husband had been separated and not divorced as earlier speculated.
