Mzbel shares shocking revelation of being married, divorced twice

Ghanaian musician Mzbel has for the first time revealed intimate details about her personal life, admitting she has been married and divorced twice.

The revelation comes while reacting to Sing-a-thon contender Afua Asantewaa publicly sharing her marital challenges.

Speaking on United Showbiz on Saturday, April 4, 2026, Mzbel shared the struggles of her first marriage.

She said she was very young when she married a man much older than her, explaining that he had helped her a lot at the time.

“I’ve been married twice and divorced twice, but nobody, including my family, knows. I was very young at the time, and this person was 28 years older than me.

“He did everything for me. That was even before I started music, and I was around 22 at that time,” she revealed.

Explaining how her first marriage ended, Mxbel recounted saying her then-husband subjected her to abuse after she peaked in her musical career.

The musician revealed that even small things, like receiving text messages, could infuriate her ex-husband, who would then physically abuse her.

“And because he helped me, I didn’t hesitate when he brought up marriage. He wanted to involve my family, but I disapproved because of my age, and I knew the family would have opposed. We got married later, but I left him after my career had peaked because he became abusive,” Mzbel said.

Mzbel said that after she could no longer tolerate the abuse, she left the marriage and started life on her own, using money she had saved over time to become financially independent.

“One day, I realised I had saved enough money in my account and could start taking care of myself and rent my own place. He came back apologising after I had left, but I didn’t want the marriage anymore,” she added.

On her second marriage, Mzbel revealed that although she divorced, the experience remained private.

“We didn’t divorce; in the second marriage, we actually divorced, but no one heard of it. I didn’t put the private issues of my second marriage out to the public because of the experience from my first marriage,” she said.
