Adom Kiki has earned a nomination in the Best New Artiste category at the 2026 TGMA
Behind every hit song, there is a web of music copyright and ownership that protects the creators and their work.
That reality is now at the centre of a dispute in the Ghanaian gospel scene, as the management team of late legendary SDA singer Akuamoah Osei Boateng has accused gospel artiste Adom Kiki of unlawfully performing the late singer’s song “Gyata Bruwa” without authorisation.
In a statement issued by Osei Boateng Music, sighted by GhanaWeb on April 6, 2026, the family said Adom Kiki had taken and publicly performed the song without authorisation or any prior engagement with either the family or the official management team.
Osei Boateng’s management also alleged that the artiste has made false claims on radio, insisting he holds a cover licence for the song despite failing to engage the management or complete the required documentation.
The statement described the situation as disrespectful to the legacy of the late musician, stressing that legal steps are being taken to halt what they called the unlawful behaviour.

According to the family, their priority is to protect Osei Boateng’s legacy while pursuing justice over the matter.
They also urged the public to disregard any claims of ownership of “Gyata Bruwa” that have not been verified by the rightful parties.
“Even more troubling is that Adom Kiki has been making bold and false claims on public radio platforms, asserting that he holds a cover licence without engaging the management team for the necessary discussions or submitting original composers’ forms and any necessary requirements.
“We consider this to be extremely disrespectful to the late Osei Boateng’s legacy and reputation,” part of the statement read.
Adom Kiki, in an earlier interview on Peace FM on April 4, 2026, insisted that he had secured the necessary rights before releasing his rendition.
When asked if he had cleared the song with the original composer, he insisted there was no issue.
“Yes, we have a cover licence for the song; therefore, there is no problem at all. When you watch the video to the end, you will see what we did, the acknowledgement,” he said.
Checks on digital streaming platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify show that Adom Kiki has credited the late SDA singer on his version as the composer of the song.
The “Gyata Bruwa” song, which has garnered over a million streams on YouTube, has also earned Adom Kiki a nomination at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards in the Best New Artiste category, placing him alongside acts such as Kojo Blak, Gonaboy, and Lalid.
