I switched from law to acting - Jagger Pee

Veteran Ghanaian actor Jagger Pee has shared his inspiring journey into acting, revealing how childhood stage performances shaped his career path in the creative arts industry.

Speaking during a cooking show on UTV on April 5, 2026, the actor disclosed that his initial dream was to become a lawyer, but academic challenges led him to reconsider his path.

“Growing up, I wanted to be a lawyer. I later realized that I wasn’t academically good, so I had to divert into acting,” he said.

Jagger Pee explained that his passion for acting began at a very young age through school and church stage performances, where he consistently took on significant biblical roles.

“When I was in primary school, we staged the birth of Jesus Christ, and I played the role of Joseph,” he recounted.

He noted that his involvement in drama continued in secondary school, where he became active in the school’s drama group, further strengthening his interest in performance arts.

“In secondary school, too, I used to do a series of plays in the school’s drama group. When I completed school, we used to stage the death of Jesus Christ at my church, and I played the role of Jesus. That’s when I realized that my interest is in acting,” he shared.

According to him, his professional breakthrough came when he joined stage performances at the Arts Centre in 1984, where he began building his career in acting.

“When I started acting professionally, we started with the stage at the Art Centre in 1984,” he stated.

He further disclosed that he later joined a performance group where actors were placed on a structured payroll system.

“I later joined a performance group, and the owner is late now. In the group, they put everyone on a payroll, so whether you perform or not, they still paid us,” he added.
