'Blacko or Wendy Shay' - Showboy predicts TGMA 'Artiste of the Year'

Socialite Showboy has shared his thoughts on what he believes will unfold at the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards, particularly regarding the Artiste of the Year category.

In a post shared on April 8, 2026, he stated that the highly competitive category is likely to be won by either Wendy Shay or Black Sherif.

According to him, both artistes have made significant contributions to the music industry over the years.

He further alleged that Empire, the record label Black Sherif is signed to, could influence the outcome in favour of their artiste.

“Blacko or Wendy Shay will win Artiste of the Year… Empire will buy votes for Blacko to win; that’s their investment. MDK is not richer than Empire… Empire will win the award for their artiste. Blacko is international; MDK is local.

“If SM/AMG fans don’t vote, all the PR work will be a waste of time. Wendy Shay can also make a strong case as a female holding it down; women will vote for her,” he said.

Showboy also noted that for Medikal to stand a chance of winning Artiste of the Year, he must focus on securing votes, stressing that media publicity alone cannot guarantee victory.

Showboy denied bail

“The only advice I’m giving MDK is to secure votes… If you do that, you have a chance of winning. Media PR is nothing but a waste of time if fans are not voting, and he should also tell his boys to stop dissing and overbragging.

“Shoulder is a big song like ‘One Corner,’ but it lacks depth, no strong lyrics or punchlines. Media PR only creates visibility; it doesn’t win awards,” he added.
