As David Kojo Kyei transitions from a celebrated music producer into full-time ministry, his views on leadership and identity are strikingly clear particularly when it comes to titles.

Despite leading Destiny Nation Church, he deliberately avoids excessive formalities. For him, being addressed simply as “David” is not a rejection of honour, but a safeguard against distraction.

“Titles can make you lose your assignment,” he notes, in an interview with MzGee.

In many Christian spaces, titles are seen as markers of growth indicators of authority and spiritual maturity. But Kaywa sees a different risk: the gradual shift from purpose to position.

The more elevated the title, the easier it can become to focus on status rather than service.

His concern is not theoretical. It is rooted in observation how recognition, if not managed carefully, can reshape intent. A calling that begins with clarity can slowly become about image, hierarchy, or control.

For Kaywa, staying grounded is intentional.

His approach to ministry reflects a desire for accessibility rather than distance. By removing layers of formality, he creates an environment where connection takes precedence over structure. It aligns with his broader philosophy that Christianity is not about performance or relevance, but about transformation.

“Christianity is not about being relevant. It’s about bringing change.”

That distinction shapes how he leads. While his church environment may appear modern and engaging, the focus remains firmly on impact lives changed, not just experiences created.

It is also a continuation of how he has navigated his life and career. Just as he resisted being confined by expectations in the music industry, he now resists being defined by titles within ministry.

With a catalogue that includes “Adonai,” “No Away,” and “Bye Bye,” and a growing legacy through Highly Spiritual Music, David Kojo Kyei has cemented his place as one of Ghana’s most influential producers blending talent, faith, and vision into a career that continues to inspire.
