Ghanaian Highlife musician Bisa Kdei has expressed concerns about the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs), calling for improvements amid some recurring controversies.

Speaking in an interview on Max TV on April 14, 2026, Bisa Kdei said that each year, the scheme is often surrounded by issues that spark public debates.

“I hope TGMAs get better. Every year, there’s a new story and controversies around it,” he said.

According to him, while the awards remain a significant platform in the music industry, there is a need for consistency and transparency to maintain credibility.

Bisa Kdei also revealed that he is not overly concerned about nominations, stressing that his priority lies in building a lasting musical legacy.

“I don’t remember the last time I was nominated at the TGMAs and it’s okay. If it comes, I’m good and if it doesn’t, no problem,” he stated.

He noted that from the beginning of his career, his goal has always been to create timeless music that will be appreciated for generations.

“When I started music, I said I wanted to create something that in the next ten to twenty years, people are going to listen to and say I really worked hard, and it’s happening. That’s the biggest achievement for me,” he added.
