Ghanaian Highlife musician and reigning Highlife Artiste of the Year, Fameye, has shared a memorable experience from a performance in the Volta Region, highlighting how the audience connected with his music in a unique way.
Speaking in a video posted on X on April 18, 2026, Fameye said the crowd was energetic and fully engaged, but their rendition of his songs came with a distinct local twist.
“I went to play a show in the Volta Region and I realised the audience were jamming to my song as I was performing. Some of them were just singing the songs, but funnily,” he said.

According to him, he could clearly hear the influence of the Ewe language in how fans interpreted and sang along, making the moment both amusing and fascinating.
“You could hear the Ewe sound in my songs and I was hearing different things they were saying. The audience is tough,” he shared.
Fameye further revealed that he adapted his performance on the spot by delivering a song in Ewe to better connect with the crowd.
He noted that once he switched to performing in Ewe, the response from the audience was overwhelming, with fans becoming even more excited and fully engaged.
“Then I had to perform an Ewe song so they could also sing along. They were so thrilled and excited,” he added.
