YOLO actor Drogba mourns father amid ongoing health battle

Ghanaian actor John Peasah, popularly known as Drogba, has announced the final funeral rites of his late father.

The actor broke the news on X on April 20, 2026, with a heartfelt message.

"Dad, you passed on, yet I am very sad because I'm still here, drowning in excruciating pain for years. This is very hard for me, honestly," he wrote.

This comes at a difficult time for Drogba, who has been battling Stiff Person Syndrome Disorder, specifically GAD-positive Cerebellar Ataxia with or without SPS overlap, for approximately three years.

The debilitating condition has left him in chronic pain and in urgent need of medical intervention, estimated to cost over $88,000.

His father, Ben Auua Peasah, also known as Barcelona, died on Wednesday, January 22, 2026, at the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra and is expected to be laid to rest on May 2, 2026, at Old Tafo in Kumasi.

Meanwhile, Drogba has continued to appeal publicly for financial support to fund his treatment.

Reports recently emerged that businessman and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama had offered to foot the bill.

In his response to the development. He said, "Mr Ibrahim Mahama case: I'll speak on it soon."
