Entertainment pundit Ernest Adu Kumi has expressed concern about the lack of major event venues in the country and criticised industry players for turning important issues into political debates.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on April 20, 2026, Ernest Kumi said politicians have made many promises over the years regarding the development of the creative arts sector, but very little has been done.
“Now it’s unfortunate, we can only plead. What if they don’t accept our plea? What do we do? We’ve turned this into politics. We’ve heard promises upon promises by politicians, but we don’t pursue them because of our political inclination and interest,” he said.

He explained that people who raise concerns about the state of the industry often face criticism depending on which political party is in power.
“If you decide to talk about it, depending on which government is in power, his people will come against you, and these are the people from the industry,” he stated.
Ernest Adu Kumi further lamented that Ghana currently lacks even a single major venue capable of comfortably hosting large-scale entertainment events.
“Now we don’t even have a single space, not even one big space to host a single event. Then we come crying,” he added.
