Ghanaian singer and songwriter Rcee has revealed that his journey into music was not originally planned, stating that he was pushed into it by peer pressure.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on April 20, 2026, Rcee explained that he never initially intended to become a musician, even though he had some ability in music while growing up.

According to him, his focus was initially on football, which he nearly pursued at a professional level before eventually drifting into music.

“If you asked me what I would do some years ago, I would say football. I was really into football, and I almost went professional, but music chose me,” he said.

The musician shared that although some people judge footballers based on their physical appearance, he believes skill matters more than body type.

“I don’t have the legs for football; some people think that when your legs are carved in a way, it means you can play very well. My legs are tiny, but I’m very skillful,” he stated.

Rcee further disclosed that even though he could sing while in high school, he never imagined he would eventually pursue music as a career.

“When I was in high school, I could sing, but I never had the plans to pursue music,” he noted.

According to him, his decision to start doing music and performing was influenced by his friends, who were already into rap.

“I started music out of peer pressure. To be a performer was out of peer pressure. My boys were rapping, and I decided to rap some,” he explained.

He added that after trying it out, his friends eventually pushed him onto the stage to perform, an experience that made him fall in love with music.

“I felt like I could do it, and one day, they pulled me on stage, and I did. From there, I loved every bit of it,” he added.
