Jay Bhad is a popular drill rapper
Ghanaian drill rapper Jay Bhad has opened up about his personal spirituality, revealing that despite starting each day in prayer, he does not identify as a Christian and has no interest in organised religion.
In an interview with Hitz FM on April 21, 2026, Jay Bhad was asked about his typical daily routine.
"When I wake up, I pray to God," he said, before quickly adding, "I am not a Christian. I don't go to church."
Jay Bhad explained his position, stating that he rather believes in communicating with God personally.
"I've studied the Bible, and I realised that God is everywhere with us. I do not have to be in a building or a group to communicate with God. Because every day, me and God, we talk," he said.

The rapper revealed that this direct relationship with God even informs his creative process.
"Even with my songs, I don't force myself. I wait for God's message before I record. I can ask God for something and he will provide it. So I saw that there was no need to go to a church or receive messages from a pastor, because I myself am powerful," he stated.
Asked to be specific about which God he was referring to, he replied, "God who created the Heavens and the earth.”
He added, "I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe in God's word.”
