The rapper says it will be well deserved if he is crowned Artiste of the Year
As conversations intensify over who will win the coveted Artiste of the Year title at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, rapper Medikal has asserted that none of the other nominees poses a threat to his chances.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on April 22, 2026, the rapper said it would be well-deserved and widely accepted if he is crowned Artiste of the Year at the 27th edition of the awards ceremony scheduled for May 9, 2026.
According to him, beyond his personal achievements during the year under review, he has also played a huge role in supporting young talents such as Essuman and Lalid, whom he believes are gradually becoming household names within the music industry, due in part to his influence.
“I don’t have any threats in that category. I think it will be very fair, very well-deserved if they give it to Medikal. Ghana will be happy, and I know what I’m saying because, you see, I’m not selfish. I like to put people on. This year, we are mentioning Lalid, Essuman. I’m not saying I did everything, but my influence made an impact,” he said.
