Shatta Wale says he wants to nuture the next Shatta Wale
Shatta Wale has said that he wants his legacy to be about more than chart-topping records; he wants to build the next street king.
According to the dancehall heavyweight, while speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) @ 20 Song Competition in Accra, it is his commitment to mentoring the next generation of Ghanaian music talent.
"I am ready to nurture the next Shatta Wale. If there is another street king coming, I want to be part of that journey. I want to see someone even greater than me," he said.
What Shatta Wale said about education to his fans
The SLTF@20 Song Competition, organised in partnership with Hotwav GH, forms part of activities marking the 20th anniversary of the Student Loan Trust Fund, following a partnership Shatta Wale announced earlier in April 2026, when he declared that education is the key.
For the 'Melissa' hitmaker, the competition is about far more than music.
"This is not just about music. It is about building lives, building dreams and building the next big name. If you are a singer, a rapper or any talent, just bring your energy. We are going to pick a winner who will stand with me on stage," he said.
For Shatta Wale, the real prize is bigger than any dollar figure.
"I want to see raw talent. I want to see energy. I want someone who is ready to work hard and take this industry further. If you win, you are not just winning money — you are winning a future.
"If I can help one person become better than me, then I have done my job. That is the future I want to see," he added.
The winner walks away with $20,000 in prize money, a recording deal with Foxway Records, mentorship opportunities, and the chance to perform live alongside Shatta Wale at the anniversary celebration.
