Ghanaian media personality MC Yaa Yeboah has launched a stinging attack on pastors who withhold pay from people working in their churches, describing such clergy members as no different from armed robbers.
Speaking on the issue of compulsory tithe giving by church members on United Showbiz on April 25, 2026, the outspoken entertainer argued that the biblical concept of tithes was never designed to enrich church leadership but to support the vulnerable and those who serve within the congregation.
"The main concept of tithes should go to help the less-privileged in the church, widows, orphans, the aged, and even the workers in the church," she said.

She went further, arguing that churches which deny workers compensation are doing a disservice to their own members.
"So, if I go to a church and the pastor is preaching that if you are working in the house of the Lord you are not supposed to be paid, then you are an armed robber," she added.
Yaa Yeboah also turned her attention to pastors who use the threat of unanswered prayers to compel tithing, condemning the practice in no uncertain terms.
"I have seen a video of a pastor saying that if you do not pay your tithes, God will not answer your prayers. That pastor is wicked," she stated.
Offering her own reading of scriptures, she pushed back against the notion that tithes must flow exclusively through the church to count before God.
"From reading the Bible, if I save a tenth of my money and I use it to help beggars and widows on the street, God will answer my prayers," she argued.
