Nigerian-Ghanaian–based comedian, Parrot Mouth, has shared his thoughts regarding the ongoing xenophobic attacks on some Ghanaians living in South Africa.
Recently, a video surfaced on social media capturing some South Africans attacking Ghanaians living in the country and demanding their deportation.
Reacting to the incident, comedian Parrot Mouth, in an interview with GhanaWeb’s Joseph Henry Mensah on April 26, 2026, stated that South Africa is “nothing” without Ghana. He emphasised that Ghana played a pivotal role in shaping what South Africa is today.
According to him, the xenophobic attacks being carried out by some South Africans stem from depression, which he believes is fueling hostility toward foreign nationals.

“South Africans are depressed. Without Ghana, South Africa is not South Africa. Ghanaians in South Africa are helping to grow their economy.
“If Ghanaians leave South Africa, and South Africans living in Ghana are also asked to leave, South Africa will become poor,” he said.
Parrot Mouth further established that South Africa adds no value to other African countries.
“South Africa does not add any value to any country. They take from other countries. South Africans are depressed.
“Ghana is like Canada, and if I am given the option to travel to South Africa or Togo, I will choose Togo,” he added.
