'I know one day I will tell the country to sleep and everyone will' – A Plus

Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has made bold remarks about the extent of his influence and why he has stepped away from aggression.

Speaking with GhanaWeb’s Elsie Lamar on Talkertainment, the former musician turned politician stated that he no longer engages in controversies and confrontational behavior because he has gained a level of self-actualization that does not require him to do that

He further revealed that he has had a personal conversation with God and has decided not to respond to people who offend him. Instead, he writes their names down, believing that a time will come when he will have the authority to command not only those individuals but even the entire country.

A Plus speaks on why he cannot be removed as MP

“I’ve gained self-actualization. I know who I am, and I know who I will become tomorrow, so my outlook on life has become very different. I’ve had a conversation with God, so these days when someone offends me, instead of attacking them, I write their names in my diary and I say, ‘one day I will tell them to sleep and they will sleep," he declared.

I know that one day I will tell everybody in this country to go and sleep and they will sleep,” he said

According to him, he has come to realize that his outspoken nature was previously used by others, a situation he no longer wishes to be part of.

“People used us, and I know that we have been used. People were enjoying what we were doing, and it was benefiting them in a way. We were fighting with everybody, we were seen as the aggressive ones, and people were making political capital out of us,” he stated

He emphasized that while people may support you during moments of aggression, those same individuals may distance themselves when more respectable opportunities arise.

Referencing the Bible, A Plus noted that although God loved and accepted prostitutes, He chose a virgin to give birth to His son. He used this analogy to explain that acceptance does not always translate into selection for certain opportunities.

“God loves prostitutes, God forgives prostitutes, but when it was time for him to birth his son, he chose a virgin. The same way they would A Plus is hard guy, they would be pushing you, but when it’s time for you to get to a certain position, they would gatekeep,” he said.
