We don’t entertain secular songs in my house – Yaw Siki

Ghanaian musician-turned evangelist, Yaw Siki, has shared insights into how his lifestyle and environment have changed over the years following his transformation into a full-time gospel.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on April 28, 2026, he revealed that secular music is completely absent from his household.

“It’s not possible for us to play my old songs in my house. My home, we don’t play secular music at all,” he said.

Yaw Siki explained that he is very intentional about the kind of content allowed in his home, especially because of his personal experiences with media influence.

According to him, those experiences have shaped how he is raising his children today, as he seeks to protect them from negative influences.

“I’m in control of my TV. I got corrupted through what I listened and the things I watched. Based on my experience, I’m raising my children based on that,” he stated.

He noted that although he does not frequently listen to the radio due to his busy schedule, his wife engages with media content, but only on selected platforms.

He further explained that their household media consumption is strictly filtered, with television content also focused on gospel programming.

“I no longer listen to the radio that much because of my busy schedule, but my wife listens to the radio a lot. When she tunes in, it’s only on gospel channels. When we turn on the TV too, it’s only gospel,” he shared.

Yaw Siki acknowledged that not all media content is harmful, but stressed the difficulty in filtering everything, which is why he prefers a more controlled environment.

“Some of the content on TV and radio and clean and cool, not necessarily gospel, but they’re okay. Some too, maybe so corrupt or deceiving, but we can’t scan every channel or programme, so the best way is to switch to platforms that are just gospel,” he added.
