DJ Slim has debunked claims that Ibrahim Mahama supported Drogba
Popular Ghanaian disc jockey DJ Slim has dismissed reports that renowned businessman Ibrahim Mahama has stepped in to financially support popular actor, John Peasah, aka Drogba, who has been seeking public assistance for his medical treatment.
Recently, news broke out that Ibrahim Mahama had stepped in to foot a $88,000 medical expense bill for Drogba, who has been battling stiff-person syndrome for over 3 years.
However, in a video published on DJ Slim’s YouTube channel on April 28, 2026, he revealed that he personally contacted Drogba to verify the claims, and was told no such offer had been made.
"Just when he opened a GoFundMe account to gather some funds, stories popped up that his medical expenses had been covered by Ibrahim Mahama. Who would want to start this kind of conversation? So I called him and asked him if this is true. He told me that no such offer had come to him," DJ Slim said.

The DJ disclosed that the false report has placed Drogba in a difficult position, as the young man had already written letters to the Ibrahim Mahama Foundation appealing for aid.
"He can't even come out to deny the reports because he had already written letters for sponsorship to the Ibrahim Mahama Foundation. So if he comes out to say anything, it may come off as disrespectful or ungrateful," he said.
DJ Slim noted that this is not the first time misinformation has derailed support for Drogba.
He recalled a similar incident involving former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, where premature reports that Dr Bawumia had covered the young man's expenses caused some genuine sponsors to withdraw before any funds had actually arrived.
A separate false claim that Drogba had been fully healed by the Christ Embassy Youth Church also forced him to appear on DJ Slim's show to set the record straight.
"Whoever started this rumour that Ibrahim Mahama had donated to the boy, that claim has rather caused him serious harm. You should bow down your head in shame," he said.
However, DJ Slim noted that Drogba remains hopeful that his appeal to the Ibrahim Mahama Foundation will receive a positive response.
However, as of now, no financial support from Ibrahim Mahama has been received.
