As anticipation builds toward the 2026 edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs), one of the key concerns among industry players is the change of venue for this year’s event.
Recently, Charterhouse Productions, organisers of the TGMAs, announced that the event would be held at the Palm Convention Center due to the government’s decision to renovate the Grand Arena.
Following the announcement, the Public Relations and Communications Officer for Charterhouse, Robert Klah, in a discussion with GhanaWeb’s Isaac Dadzie, debunked claims that the government deliberately targeted the awards scheme.
According to Robert Klah, the timing of the TGMAs and the government’s decision to renovate the Grand Arena is merely coincidental, dismissing assertions circulating on social media as false.
“They have their plans regarding what they are doing, so I don’t really think it is because the event is approaching that they want to target us. No, I don’t think that is the issue.
“I just believe they are doing what they are supposed to do, and it has somehow affected us. So we just need to express our concerns. I believe this is a listening government, and I believe the president takes a special interest in the creative arts,” he said.

Robert Klah also expressed confidence that the administration of President John Dramani Mahama will respond positively to their appeal to host the event at the Grand Arena.
“It’s just a matter of being heard in a way that will prompt a response. I still believe we will hear something positive from them. I have confidence in our leaders that the response will be favourable.
“But as event organisers, we must always have a backup plan, and that is why we have put one in place,” he added.
