Music lovers are becoming increasingly uneasy about AI-generated songs, and rapper M.anifest has joined the conversation with a direct appeal to digital streaming platforms (DSPs).
In a post shared on his X page on May 3, 2026, the rapper tagged Apple Music and Spotify, urging them to introduce a feature that allows users to block AI artistes from influencing their listening algorithms.
“I would like the option of blocking music from all Ai artists from entering my algorithm. Can you do that for me please? @Spotify @AppleMusic Advance thanks,” he wrote.
The rapper’s concerns reflect a broader shift in listener sentiment. According to a recent report by music and entertainment insights company Luminate, audiences are growing increasingly uncomfortable with AI-generated music.
The decline is particularly noticeable among younger listeners, especially Gen Z and Gen Alpha.
The study compared attitudes toward AI in music creation between May and November 2025 and found that overall interest dropped from -13% to -20% during that period.

“Across the board, what we found is that consumers are net negative,” Audrey Schomer, a media analyst and research editor at Luminate, who authored the report titled “Generative AI in Entertainment 2026: Examining Changes in Industry Strategies, Legal Challenges & Consumer Attitudes” stated.
She added, “All that means is that people are more likely to feel uncomfortable than to feel comfortable with AI use.”
The findings cover both partial AI involvement, such as writing lyrics or generating vocals, and fully AI-created compositions or performances, with the latter drawing stronger negative reactions.
Still, about a third of respondents expressed indifference toward AI music.
The report comes at a time when generative AI content is rapidly increasing across social media and streaming platforms.
In 2025, the French streaming company Deezer introduced an AI detection tool to monitor and label “synthetic content” uploaded to its platform.
Earlier this month, Deezer disclosed that approximately 44% of its daily uploads are now AI-generated tracks.
