Popular Ghanaian influencer Gisela Amponsah has opened up about why people constantly question influencers' luxurious lifestyles.

Speaking in an interview with Anita Akuffo on TV3, Gisela stated that many people still do not believe that influencing is an actual job, which is why they always try to calculate how much influencers make.

“People don’t realise that influencing is an actual job. I don’t know how much they think we are paid as influencers, but it's not that pathetic. We can’t put out how much we make, it would bring a whole lot, it's also not good for your personal brand or the people you work with,” she said

The influencer’s recent purchase of a new Benz sparked a lot of conversations online, with many questioning how she could afford three cars at the age of 26.

She explained that influencers are paid very well for advertisements and campaigns, adding that they sometimes earn as much as radio and television stations do for promotions.

“People just underestimate and undervalue the job of being an influencer, and I keep making this reference that the amount of money that would be paid to radio station and TV to promote a product would probably be the same amount paid to an individual to promote a product, based on the person’s audience and interactions,” she said.

Gisela noted that people often compare influencers’ lifestyles to the average income in Ghana, making it difficult for them to understand how influencers are able to afford expensive lifestyles.

She stated that while she understands the doubts because of the current economic situation in the country, it is time people start accepting that influencing is a serious business that pays well.

“I’m not going to lie, when we look at the average income of a Ghanaian, it’s not really encouraging, but people base their pocket watching on the amount of money they make,” she added
