Davido opens up on relationship with Wizkid

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has opened up about his relationship with his colleague Wizkid, stating that his decision to congratulate Wizkid on his latest album was genuine and did not require any response in return.

Speaking during a recent interview, Davido explained that he posted about Wizkid’s project simply because he wanted to, stressing that he is free to share whatever he likes on his social media pages.

“I just did, I can’t lie. I just posted it. I can post anything I want on my page. He never responded. Why would I hope he would respond when I know he wasn’t going to respond?” he stated.

The singer also revealed that despite their long-standing public rivalry, he has Wizkid’s personal phone number but has never called him directly.

When asked whether the two Nigerian stars could eventually settle their differences, Davido admitted he was uncertain about the future of their relationship. According to him, that question should rather be directed at Wizkid.

“I don’t know, oh, ask Mr Ayo himself.”

Davido further touched on how acts of sincerity are often misunderstood, saying many people tend to attach negative motives to genuine gestures.

“I congratulated Wizkid on his new album because I can post anything I like on my page, And I wasn’t waiting for him to respond because I know he won’t”
