Kwesi Amewuga is a fast-rising Ghanaian artiste
Fast-rising Ghanaian artiste and 25th TGMA Unsung winner, Kwesi Amewuga, has expressed excitement over his nomination in the Best Hiplife Song category at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
Speaking in an interview on TV3 on May 6, 2026, the rapper said he feels honoured to be competing alongside some of the biggest names in the Ghanaian music industry.
“I’ve been nominated for Best Hiplife Song of the Year alongside Medikal, Sarkodie and others. I feel great to be nominated with the ‘giants’ of the industry,” he said.
According to Kwesi Amewuga, being in the same category with established artistes is a major milestone considering he used to follow and debate award categories as a fan some years ago.
“Some years ago, we were the ones voting and debating on who would win what and now, I’m in the category with Sarkodie and Medikal,” he stated.

Despite admitting that the competition comes with pressure, the artiste believes his style of music gives him an edge over the other nominees.
“Competition wise, there’s a lot of pressure on me, looking at the people I’m competing with. Talking of Hiplife, when you listen to my sound, it’s full Hiplife. That’s the advantage I think I have over them and that should let me win,” he shared.
He also opened up about the significance of winning the TGMA Unsung Artiste award, describing it as one of his biggest sources of motivation.
“The Unsung award I received is really precious to me. I kept it where I would be seeing it often because it means a lot. Anytime I see it, it motivates me to work harder and keep going,” he added.
