Netizens assert that Regina Van Helvert’s question to Fella at TGMA red carpet was inappropriate
On the night of May 9, 2026, the Grand Arena came alive with glamour, glitz and excitement as it hosted the 27th edition of the Ghana Music Awards.
However, during the red-carpet show hosted by media personality Regina Van Helvert, she posed a question to actress Fella Makafui that many believe was not appropriate to have asked her.
During their interaction, Regina asked Fella a question referencing her ex-husband.
“If your ex-husband saw you tonight, what do you think he would say? We didn’t mention names oo, we just said if your ex sees you tonight, what do you think he will be thinking?” Regina asked.
The question appeared to catch the actress off guard, though she maintained her composure and responded with laughter rather than a direct answer.
In a playful tone, Fella said: “See, you are just looking for a problem for me. I wish everyone the best.”
While the moment passed on the red carpet, it has since generated mixed reactions on social media, with many users questioning whether the question was appropriate for such a public setting.
Some netizens argued that Regina’s question crossed a line, with one user writing that they would have reacted differently if placed in Fella’s position.
“Reasons I cannot be a celebrity, because if she asked me this question eh, what I’ll tell her, it will become a war film immediately. You’ll collect hot hot,” one user commented.
Another social media user, however, acknowledged Regina’s professionalism but felt the question was unnecessary.
“Regina is an excellent journalist but I wasn’t expecting this question from her, a very unimportant question,” the user wrote.
Another user added: “Ah what kind of disrespectful question is that? Why say some people no get boundaries like that?”

The thing could be that she didn't mean any harm for starters. Her mind didn't go to the fact that this is a woman who has an ex-husband . She only got caught in the excitement of the moment. By the time she wanted to do damage control, the U-turn became obviously impossible.

A typical example of ‘read the room’. She should have just wrapped it up after the first time but madam said daabi da. Big respect to Fella btw. https://t.co/DuTCpw55Gm
