Popular Ghanaian rapper Medikal has encouraged creatives to take bold steps and act on their ideas, stressing that no one knows how far a simple idea can go.

Speaking during his acceptance speech at the 2026 TGMA Awards after winning Most Popular Song of the Year for his hit song Shoulder, Medikal shared the unexpected story behind the creation of the track.

According to the rapper, the song was born out of boredom on a random day when he decided to visit the studio with no particular plan in mind.

He explained that producer A-Town was playing a beat at the studio, and he instantly felt inspired to record something on it. After laying down his part, he sent the song to Beetztrap KOTM and Shatta Wale, who both added their verses to complete the record.

“I woke up randomly one day, and I was bored as usual. I drove to the studio. A-Town was playing the beat; I said, "Let me try something on this." I sent this song to Beetztrap, my brother, and my other brother, Shatta Wale, the king. He said he was gonna do something, and we have shoulder” he recounted

Medikal noted that what started as an unplanned studio session eventually grew into a global hit and has now earned recognition on a major award stage.

Using his own experience as motivation, the rapper urged creatives not to overthink their ideas or wait for the perfect moment before taking action.

According to him, people should simply get up and create because they never know who is watching or where their work could eventually lead them.

“If you are a creative right, anytime you wake up, anything that pops into your head, just do it. Just wake up in the morning, think of something, and just do it, because you don’t know who is watching,” she urged
