The 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2026 lit up the Grand Arena on May 9, 2026, as some of Ghana’s biggest musicians and industry players gathered for a night of music, fashion, and unforgettable performances.

But beyond the awards and red carpet glamour, the ceremony also delivered plenty of hilarious and unexpected moments.

From awkward reactions to funny exchanges and viral videos, fans were entertained throughout the night.

Here’s a look back at some of the funniest moments from the unforgettable evening:

Abusuapanyin Tupac’s acceptance speech

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Daddy Lumba, with Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, popularly known as “Abusuapanyin Tupac”, receiving the award on behalf of the family.

During his acceptance speech, while appreciating individuals for their contributions, he attempted to thank the TGMA organisers but appeared momentarily confused.

He turned around to read the inscription on the backdrop and mistakenly said “GMA,” triggering loud laughter from the audience.

In an attempt to correct himself, he then said “TTGMA,” which sent the auditorium into even more laughter, including members of his own family who were on stage with him.

Efia Odo’s borrowed dress incident with Dr Likee

Efia Odo and Dr Likee were on stage together to present an award when the comedian began teasing the actress about her outfit.

Before announcing the winner, Dr Likee jokingly claimed that Efia had rented her dress and warned her not to drag it on the floor so it would not get dirty before she returned it to its rightful owner.

Efia Odo, clearly amused by the playful jab, turned to Dr Likee and jokingly told him not to “start one of his things again.”

Dr Likee on the red carpet

At the tail end of the red carpet show, Dr Likee, Efia Odo, Black Sherif and Fella Makafui were hosted by Regina Van Helvert and Godwin Namboh during an interview segment.

At one point, Regina asked Dr Likee about his expectations for the night, saying, “Dr Likee, your expectations for tonight?”

However, the comedian hilariously responded with “Thank you,” apparently misunderstanding the question.

Regina later repeated the question in Twi before Dr Likee finally understood and responded that they were expecting excitement from the night.

Black Sherif issues disclaimer over alleged flirting with Fella Makafui

Another funny red carpet moment came when host Godwin Namboh allegedly suggested that Fella Makafui had been flirting with Black Sherif in his presence.

Before the host could continue, Black Sherif quickly cut him off and dismissed the claims, making it clear that nothing of the sort had happened between him and the actress.

“No flirting, I beg you,” the musician clarified.

Mic switched off on Kojo Blak’s team member

“Excellent” hitmaker Kojo Blak received the award for Best New Artiste at TGMA 27 and mounted the stage with a large group of team members, humorously referred to online as a “follow back gang.”

After Kojo Blak finished his acceptance speech and the group was about to leave the stage, one of the “follow backs” attempted to grab the microphone to speak.

However, just as he was about to say something, the microphone was switched off, creating yet another hilarious moment that got the audience laughing.
