Popular entertainment pundit and media personality Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo has responded to his appointment as a spokesperson on the New Patriotic Party's Sectoral Committee on Tourism, Culture and the Creative Arts.

According to him, he has to carry out his own due diligence on the role before officially commenting on the role.

The appointment was part of a sweeping internal reorganisation by the NPP, which saw 205 professionals assigned across 30 standing and sectoral committees on May 7, 2026.

The move was confirmed in a statement signed by NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, as the party, currently in opposition following the 2024 general elections, positions itself for the 2028 electoral cycle.

Speaking in an interview with Onua FM, Asamoah-Baidoo stated, "I would say it's early days yet, so please give me some time to do some background checks. When the time is right, I will address it."

Arnold joins a committee co-chaired by Fred Kyei Asamoah and former Minister Barbara Oteng Gyasi, alongside fellow spokespersons Naa Donorkie and Nana Adjoa Asante.

The inclusion of the pundit in the commitee has been met with surprise given his years of criticism on how successive governments, including the NPP, have managed Ghana's creative economy.
