In those days, Germans were the most stupid and naive European folks, making it very easy to borrow money from the banks and run into thin air or file for bankruptcy and the debt is written off, an opportunity most of the crookish "Agermain" borgas took advantage of.

Some of them took the money and ran to Ghana, some to other European countries. Those who know this connection knows what I'm talking about.
