'Ghana music will be top-notch globally in the next decade' - Shatta Wale

In the next decade, Dancehall musician Shatta Wale believes Ghana’s entertainment industry, particularly music will rank among the top-notch industries in the world, as he continues to push that agenda.

The Shatta Movement boss told media personality Bola Ray that the industry just needs a little more communication and understanding, adding that he feels the orientation towards the business has not really been there.

“I think with a collective mindset and attitude, in 10 years’ time, Ghana music is going to be one of the top-notch industries in the world. I just feel we need a little bit of communication and understanding,” he said.

Talking about support from industry stakeholders, the “Melissa” hitmaker explained that music lovers, especially fans, are playing their part.

He also noted that political figures enjoy music, but argued that musicians’ attitude towards these figures is what will encourage them to support the industry.

“I would say the support is coming from the people. The fans are playing their role and I tell most of my colleagues that there are ministers and presidents that love music, they love musicians. So, it’s our attitude towards them that will make them support us,” he noted.

Shatta Wale further mentioned that, “I’ve had a few conversations with top-notch people and I feel gradually they’re going to understand. That’s why sometimes I feel I need to sacrifice whatever so the next generation can benefit.”

Moving away from that and discussing his Shatta Fest concert in London on August 1, 2026, the Dancehall artiste urged fans to expect a celebration on the day.

“Well, I think they should just expect positivity, shatterbration, the ‘God is here’ spirit because I’m a servant of God and I want to preach the gospel of God to the world. It’s one of the covenants I have with God that I really want God to let people know the kind of talent He’s put in me,” he added.
