Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang is set to launch the Revised Ghana National Cultural Policy on June 9, 2026.

In a statement released on June 4, 2026, sighted by GhanaWeb, The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts announced that the official launch of the Revised Ghana National Cultural Policy will reposition culture as a key driver of national development and economic transformation.

According to the ministry, the revised policy marks a significant milestone in Ghana's cultural development agenda, providing a renewed strategic framework for preserving, promoting, and harnessing the country's rich cultural heritage to foster social cohesion, economic growth, creative innovation, and sustainable development.

“The policy has been reviewed and updated to align with contemporary national and global realities, including the growth of the creative economy, technological advancement, cultural tourism, youth empowerment, cultural education, and the safeguarding of Ghana's tangible and intangible cultural heritage. It seeks to position culture as a central pillar of sustainable development and nation-building,” the statement said.

The ministry also included that the revised policy seeks to position culture as a central pillar of nation-building while supporting the government's broader development agenda.

The statement added that the launch ceremony is expected to attract a wide range of stakeholders, including government officials, traditional leaders, development partners, representatives of the creative and cultural industries, academia, civil society organisations, cultural practitioners, and members of the diplomatic community.
