Nigerian actor, musician, and content creator, Nasboi, has opened up about the limited coverage Ghana receives in the Nigerian media, stating that most developments in the country rarely make headlines in Nigeria.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, Nasboi noted that Nigerians are largely unaware of happenings in Ghana because local media outlets and blogs seldom report on them.
According to him, one of the few occasions Ghana dominated conversations in Nigeria was during a period of tension when some Ghanaians called for Nigerians living in the country to leave following criminal activities linked to a Nigerian citizen.

“We hear nothing about Ghana. The only time we hear about Ghana the most was a time there was a fight, and Ghanaians were saying Nigerians should leave Ghana. That’s what we heard, but if it’s about stuff happening here, we don’t hear it,” he said.
Nasboi, however, stressed that the challenge is not unique to Ghana. He explained that important developments in Nigeria often receive little attention as well, with entertainment blogs and media platforms prioritizing celebrity gossip, social media drama, and other sensational stories over more substantive news.
He further argued that audiences share some responsibility for the trend, as media outlets are largely driven by engagement and often publish content that attracts the most reactions.
“The problem goes both ways, including the audience. The type of things they engage with the most, because what the blogs care about is audience engagement. So when they post the important ones and the audience doesn’t engage, they begin to post the ones that they will engage with,” he stated.
