Ghana Movie Awards 2026: LilWin apologises for absence despite winning Best Actor

The management of actor and executive producer Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has apologised for his absence at the 15th edition of the Ghana Movie Awards despite emerging as one of the biggest winners on the night.

In a statement signed by his Public Relations Manager, Okyeame Akwaada Nyame, management explained that the actor was unable to attend the awards ceremony due to a prior professional engagement that had already been scheduled before organisers contacted him.

According to the statement, LilWin and his team deeply regret any inconvenience caused by his absence and reaffirmed their respect for the Ghana Movie Awards and its leadership.

“We sincerely apologise to the organisers, fellow nominees and the general public for LilWin’s absence on the awards night. Due to a prior professional commitment booked before the organisers reached out to them, he was unable to attend,” portions of the statement read.

The statement also expressed appreciation to the organisers of the awards for recognising LilWin’s contribution to the movie industry.

Management noted that the actor was honoured to be named Best Actor in a Leading Role and also received two additional awards at the 2026 edition of the event.

“We are immensely honoured that LilWin was announced as BEST ACTOR in a Leading Role and received two additional awards at this year’s edition. These recognitions are a testament to the hard work, dedication and passion that our team pours into the craft of storytelling,” the statement said.

Beyond celebrating the awards, the actor’s management called for greater support for both established and emerging talents within the Ghanaian film industry.

The statement expressed hope that the Ghana Movie Awards would continue to grow into a major annual festival that not only honours industry veterans but also provides a platform for young and upcoming filmmakers and actors.

“It is our prayer that the Ghana Movie Awards will grow into an annual festival event that not only celebrates leading actors and filmmakers who show up on the night but also consistently acknowledges young and emerging talents for their invaluable contributions to our industry. Only by uplifting every stakeholder regardless of their status can we truly unite and rebuild Ghana movie,” it added.

Management further thanked Ghanaians for their continued support for LilWin and Wezzyempire Movie Productions, pledging to work harder to help revive the country’s film industry.

“We thank the good people of Ghana for their continued trust and belief in the actor LilWin and Wezzyempire Movie Productions. We promise to work even harder, collaborate with all players and champion initiatives that will bring our beloved movie industry back to its golden glory. Together, let us make Ghana film great again,” the statement concluded.
