'I don't think he was referring to us' - Shatta Wale on Stonebwoy's 'fake friends' post

Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has broken his silence on Stonebwoy's viral cryptic tweet, stating that the post did not affect him the slightest.

He insisted that he does not even believe the post was directed at him and Sarkodie in the first place.

Speaking in an interview with UK-based Nigerian entertainment personality Adesope Olajide, the ‘On God’ hitmaker ruled out any reason to feel targeted by Stonebwoy's post, which allegedly described he and Sarkodie’s friendship as "faking to each other based on interests and timing."

"I didn't feel anything. That tweet didn't make me feel anything because I know I'm not a fake person. When I love somebody, I love the person deeply," Shatta Wale said.

He went further to suggest that Stonebwoy may not have had him or Sarkodie in mind at all when he posted it.

"I don't think Stone is talking to me and Sark. I don't think Stone was referring to us. I feel maybe he's just trying to find a way to promote his beautiful show that he wants to organize in London. I also feel he was just trying to tap into what he saw," he said.

Shatta Wale also used the platform to address his public image, acknowledging that he has been making a conscious effort to shed the controversial tag that has followed him throughout his career.

He insisted that what many interpret as aggression is simply self-defence.

"Now the world is developed so much that if you are violent, rich men don't like it. I've tried to wipe that image from my brand because I feel I don't like this.

“Everything I've said on the internet is because somebody has said something about me. If somebody is attacking, wouldn't somebody defend?” he said.
