Nigerian actress Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, popularly known as BamBam, has addressed reports surrounding the disappearance of her mobile phone, clarifying that her personal assistant was not responsible for its loss.
In a video shared on social media on June 11, 2026, the actress explained that the incident occurred after she attended a memorial event held to celebrate the life of actor Alexx Ekubo.
According to BamBam, the ceremony had ended, and attendees were exchanging pleasantries while reflecting on the impact the late actor had on their lives.
“Yesterday, we went to celebrate the life of Alexx Ekubo and right after the ceremony was over, we all exchanged pleasantries and just being grateful. For the life he lived, I’ve learnt so much. How can someone be so perfect? Every life he touched was an encounter. Nobody had anything less to say about him,” she said.
She recounted that after getting into her car, she realized her phone was missing. This came after a video surfaced online showing her personal assistant removing a phone from her bag, leading many social media users to accuse the assistant of stealing it.
However, BamBam dismissed the allegations, explaining that the venue was crowded and her bag had been left open.
According to her, her assistant only removed the phone to keep it safe from potential thieves.
“Then I got into my car and noticed my phone wasn’t with me. I saw a video circulating about a lady moving a phone from my bag; that’s my personal assistant. That place was rowdy and the bag I was carrying was open, so she just thought to remove my phone so that it wouldn’t be stolen,” she explained.

The actress further stated that after the event, her assistant collected her bag and other belongings, but the phone was no longer with her.
BamBam said she initially assumed the assistant still had the device until they entered the car and discovered it was missing.
“After the event, she came to take my bag and the things with me, but the phone was already gone at that time. I actually thought when she took my bag and the paper I was holding, she was with my phone until we got into the car and I asked her where my phone was and she said it’s not with her,” BamBam stated.
She suggested that the phone may have been stolen while she was greeting people or taking selfies with fans after the ceremony.
“Probably when we were hugging and exchanging pleasantries or at any point, because some people came that they wanted to take selfies. It was odd to me that people wanted to take selfies at an event like this when we were leaving the hall. Why would a human being consider a place of service of songs a place to rob?” she questioned.
BamBam also urged the public to stop attacking her personal assistant, insisting that she did not steal the phone and should not be subjected to negative publicity.
“Stop dragging my PA. She didn’t steal the phone from me and she shouldn’t trend for the wrong reasons. It got stolen after the event was over and the video circulating was when we were trying to enter the hall. I had the phone with me during the entire ceremony and even made some posts online,” she added.
