Nigerian filmmaker and actor based in Ghana, Pascal Amanfo, has called out fashion icon Nana Akua Addo over what he describes as a “distortion of the truth” surrounding how actress Yvonne Nelson was cast in a past film.

In a video shared on Instagram on June 12, 2026, Pascal stated that he had seen Nana Akua Addo, who recently took a jab at Yvonne Nelson, share a poster of a movie from back in the day.

According to him, the post appeared to suggest that Nana Akua Addo had cast Yvonne Nelson in a movie before, implying that despite any personal differences, Yvonne had previously worked for her.

Pascal Amanfo believes the action by Nana Akua Addo was unnecessary and driven by ego, arguing that it distorted the true events surrounding how Yvonne Nelson eventually became part of the project.

“So my dear Nana, someone brought my attention to a TikTok post where, whilst responding to certain commenters, you were sharing the poster of a movie I directed, a movie you produced from years ago that had Yvonne Nelson as part of the cast, and you were slightfully insinuating that after all, you had their fave cast in your movie.

“Now, I think that’s highly unnecessary and a bit of an ego drive because it’s a distortion of the truth. You wanted Yvonne Nelson to be part of that movie,” he said.

According to Pascal Amanfo, the film in question, which he directed and Nana Akua Addo produced, did not initially have Yvonne Nelson on board, as she was reportedly not willing to be part of the project at the time.

He explained that Nana Akua Addo had no direct professional access to the actress at the time, and that Yvonne was selective about the types of film roles she accepted.

He further noted that several efforts had to be made before she agreed to participate.

“You had no personal or professional access to Yvonne Nelson. Prince David and I begged, Yvonne Nelson to be part of that movie. She did not want to do that movie. we begged Yvonne Nelson to do that movie.

“She, at the time, she was very particular. She had her reservations and she was very particular about the kinds of movies that she got involved in for certain reasons. She did not want to do that movie,” he stated.

Pascal Amanfo further emphasised that while Nana Akua Addo’s brand and influence in the creative space are recognised and respected, the same respect should also be extended to Yvonne Nelson and other established figures in the industry.

“No one can take away from you the brand you have built. Nana Akua Addo is a brand. Yvonne Nelson is a brand. Those are two lines that don’t really need to meet or don’t really need to cross. While we respect you for the brand you are building, we must also respect those who came before you. It’s important that fact is made and that fact is respected,” he noted.
