I will marry Florence if Bishop Obinim divorces her – Big Akwes

Ghanaian actor Big Akwes has openly declared his admiration for Florence Obinim, the wife of Bishop Daniel Obinim.

According to the actor, he would not hesitate to pursue Florence if her marriage to Bishop Obinim comes to an end.

His comments come in the wake of ongoing public discussions surrounding the recent controversy involving Obinim and his wife’s marriage.

Speaking in a video shared on social media on June 15, 2026, Big Akwes criticised Obinim for publicly speaking negatively about Florence, stressing that such actions could harm her reputation.

“If Obinim leaves Florence, I will accept her. He doesn’t know what he has and he’s busily disgracing her publicly. If he doesn’t love her anymore, he should say it so that Florence can be free,” he said.

He continued, “Disgracing her and telling lies about her so that at the end of the day, when he leaves her, no one would go for her. I’m telling Obinim that if he makes the mistake and leaves his wife, I would go for her.”

Big Akwes indicated that Florence has been his long-time crush, stressing that he has always admired her but respected the fact that she is a married woman.

“She has always been my crush and I admired her so much, but I didn’t know how to go about it. Whatever someone has, we don’t have to snatch it from the person with force. Since Florence Obinim is still his wife, I can’t go and tell her that I’m in love with her, but the day he divorces her, I will go for her,” he shared.

The actor further urged Bishop Obinim to handle any marital issues privately and maturely rather than publicly embarrassing his wife.

“He should end the marriage the mature way so that those who are interested can get the chance, but not embarrass her like that,” he stated.

Big Akwes also noted that divorce is not uncommon among public figures and religious leaders, insisting that Obinim would not be the first pastor to part ways with his spouse if he chooses to do so.

“There are a lot of pastors who have left their wives and nothing happened. They even got married to other women too, so Obinim’s own will not be the first,” he said.

He added, “He can divorce and marry another woman if he’s no longer interested in his marriage. All the things he’s saying about his wife will not discourage me from loving her.”
