Gospel musician and wife of Founder and Leader of the International God's Way Church, Florence Obinim, has disclosed that she once composed a campaign song for President John Dramani Mahama but never released it because her husband, Bishop Daniel Obinim, opposed the idea.

According to Florence, a senior member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) approached her and requested that she compose a song for Mahama ahead of an election campaign.

Speaking in an interview on GHPage on June 16, 2026, she explained that a party member praised her songwriting abilities and assured her that all expenses related to the project would be fully funded.

"A senior member from the NDC reached out to me and said he trusts that I fear God. Most of my songs have powerful messages and are life-changing. He loves John Mahama so much and wanted me to make a song for him. He said he heard that I write my songs, so I should compose a campaign song for John Mahama," she said.

She noted that although she was initially interested in the proposal, she sought divine direction before proceeding.

“I then appreciated him for commending me and I told him that the power is not in my hands, so if God permits me, I would humbly make the song for him. The man promised to fund everything around the song and give me more money,” she shared.

Florence Obinim stated that after praying about the request, she felt inspired and was able to write the song within three days.

“Immediately I got home, I prayed about it. Within three days, God directed me and I was able to write the song so well. That’s when I realized God loves John Mahama,” she noted.

However, before releasing the song, she decided to seek the opinion of her husband out of respect for him.

According to her, Bishop Obinim listened to the song but instructed her not to release it.

Florence Obinim further noted that despite the effort she put into the project, she chose to honour her husband's decision and shelved the song.

“I hadn’t composed a song for any political party before, so I took my time to bring out the best. Out of the respect I have for my husband, I decided to inform him about the song. He then asked to listen to it and after listening, he said he wouldn’t allow me to release it. I didn’t want to disobey Bishop Obinim, so I never released it,” she added.
