Denrele Edun 'married himself' during his 45th birthday celebration
Nigerian media personality and actor Denrele Edun has explained the reason behind his symbolic decision to “marry himself” as part of celebrations marking his 45th birthday.
The flamboyant entertainer, born Adenrele Oluwafemi Edun, sparked reactions on social media after sharing a video in which he announced that he had tied the knot with himself.
According to Denrele, the gesture was a celebration of self-love, resilience, and the many versions of himself that have endured life’s challenges over the years.
“Till death didn’t do us part. So I married myself. After 45 years of chaos, glitter, survival, reinvention, controversy, resilience, heartbreak, and triumph, I remain the greatest love story I’ve ever known,” he said in the video.
Reflecting on his journey through fame, personal struggles, and successes, the television personality said he chose to honour the one person who had remained with him throughout every phase of his life.
“I am the bride and the groom. And I am marrying every version of myself that fought to get here. Today, I marry the only person who never left my side: ME!” he declared.
Known for his unconventional style and larger-than-life personality, Denrele concluded his message on a celebratory note, signing off as “The Bride. The Groom. The Happily Ever After.”
