Ghana shines at inaugural Punchline International Comedy Festival as Kojo PJay commands stage

In a landmark moment for Ghanaian comedy, stand-up comedian and creator Kojo PJay brought the house down at the inaugural Punchline International Comedy Festival (PICF) — a historic week-long celebration held from May 25–30, 2026 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania — proudly flying the Black Star as Ghana's representative on an elite six-nation continental stage.

When the lights hit the stage at The Superdome in Masaki on Saturday, May 30, 2026, Ghanaian comedian Kojo PJay did not just perform — he represented. The Grand Finale of the inaugural Punchline International Comedy Festival (PICF) was the night's ultimate showcase, and PJay delivered a set that drew standing ovations and left a packed East African audience talking long after the curtain fell.

Armed with his signature wit, cultural sharpness, and the unmistakable Ghanaian spirit, he made every moment count.

Organised by Punchline Africa under the banner theme "Uniting Africa Through Comedy," the PICF made history as a week-long celebration — May 25 to 30 — bringing together leading stand-up comedians from six African nations: Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ghana, and South Africa.

The festival's jam-packed schedule featured professional writers' rooms, comedy workshops, open mic nights, and pop-up activations across Dar es Salaam, all building towards the Grand Finale: the Ultimate All-English Showcase at The Superdome.
