Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has revealed that he prefers giving properties to the women in his life while he is alive rather than waiting to distribute his wealth through a will after his death.

Speaking in an interview on The Bonah Show, aired on June 19, 2026, the musician said he believes in securing the future of his partners in real time instead of making promises that may only materialise after his demise.

According to him, some men fail to appreciate their partners and keep them in relationships for years without helping them acquire assets or achieve financial security.

“When you don’t respect your woman, that’s when you will be with a woman for years without giving her a property. I don’t believe in will; I believe in reality. As I’m with the woman, what am I doing for her? Is everything I’m doing for her in her name?” he said.

Shatta Wale noted that he does not subscribe to the idea that a woman must be married before she becomes entitled to support or property from her partner.

“I don’t want to be an old man and then decide to share my properties. We all don’t know when we will die, but some people may make the mistake of keeping their women like slaves. I’ve seen that a lot lately. People will get married, the woman won’t be happy, but they will still be in the marriage. I don’t want my woman to be in that kind of situation,” he stated.

He explained that his philosophy is to ensure the women he is involved with have assets in their own names while they are still together.

“I’ve been in several relationships and I’ve studied the ups and downs in them. I don’t see marriage as if we have to get married before she gets entitled to something. I believe that as we’re together, she should be able to have her own assets,” he added.

The dancehall artiste disclosed that he has made significant investments in the lives of his two baby mamas, including houses and cars registered in their names.

Citing his former partner, Shatta Michy, he said she cannot claim that he failed to support her because he gave her $65,000 to purchase and complete a house project and also bought her a car.

“I have two baby mothers in Ghana and I’ve been able to sort them out. Shatta Michy can’t sit somewhere and say I’ve not given her $65,000 to buy a house. I saw that they were building and I asked them to complete it. I’ve bought her a car,” he noted.

He further revealed that his first baby mama owns two cars and that he is currently building another house for her, stressing that all the properties are legally registered in her name.

“My first baby mother has two cars. Recently, I’ve been trying to build another house for her to go and stay in. It’s her house; everything is in her name. She’s not even a wife; she’s a baby mama,” he said.

Shatta Wale maintained that every property he has acquired for the mothers of his children belongs solely to them, giving them the freedom to sell or manage the assets as they deem fit.

“Every property I bought for them was registered in their names, so it's theirs. They can sell them or do whatever they want to do with the properties,” he added.
