Sammy Flex understands me better than anyone in the industry — Shatta Wale

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has opened up about his working relationship with his manager, Sammy Flex, stating that the latter has played a significant role in the growth of his brand.

According to Shatta Wale, despite the occasional disagreements between them, Sammy Flex has demonstrated a deep understanding of his personality and career, making their partnership a successful one.

Speaking in an interview on The Bonah Show on June 20, 2026, the award-winning musician mentioned that many people doubted their relationship when Sammy Flex first became his manager.

“When Sammy started managing me, I saw a lot of comments. Some were saying we won’t last. My manager and I fight a lot, but he understands me better,” he said.

Shatta Wale explained that Sammy Flex's years of experience in the entertainment industry have given him a unique understanding of artistes and how to manage them effectively.

“I feel Sammy has been in the industry for a long time; he has seen artistes come and go, so he knows every artiste. For him to understand me like that is something else,” he stated.

The dancehall artiste further disclosed that Sammy Flex often handles difficult situations calmly, even when he becomes frustrated over issues related to performances and events.

“Sometimes we would go to shows and I would complain if some things didn’t go like I wanted it. He would just apologise, so we would move on,” he shared.

Shatta Wale also addressed concerns from some of his colleagues who question why Sammy Flex refers to him as "boss."

“My colleagues even wonder why Sammy calls me boss, but it’s not that he calls me that for my head to swell. He has positioned himself well and that’s why I always have him around me. When he introduces someone to me, I take them as my family,” he noted.

The musician praised Sammy Flex for helping strengthen the Shatta brand and expressed disappointment whenever he sees people fail to appreciate his manager's efforts.

“I realised he has opened a beautiful door for me and what he has been able to do with my brand is that, he is able to educate everyone about the Shatta brand. Things are not like how people think. When I see people being ungrateful to him, I feel sad,” he added.
