Mr Eazi, Juliet Ibrahim, Chef Abbys, Kojo Cue, Wendy Shay and others celebrate the result
The Black Stars’ spirited performance against England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup has sparked excitement across Ghana’s entertainment industry, with musicians, actors, media personalities, filmmakers, and content creators flooding social media with praise following the team’s impressive 0-0 draw in Boston.
Ghana produced a disciplined defensive display to frustrate one of the tournament favourites in their second Group L fixture, earning a valuable point and drawing admiration from fans and celebrities alike.
The reaction was not limited to Ghanaian stars. Several Nigerian celebrities, often affectionately referred to as Ghana’s “distant cousins”, also joined in celebrating the Black Stars’ resilient performance against England.
One player who received overwhelming praise from the entertainment community was goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.
The shot-stopper, who is known to be a proud supporter of the Shatta Movement, emerged as the standout performer of the night with a series of crucial saves that helped Ghana secure the draw.
Among those who shared their thoughts was music duo DopeNation, who urged Ghanaians to be more patient and supportive of the national team.
“Sometimes erhn, we for relax for Ghana Black Stars. That game against Panama had social media flooding with comments like ‘we didn’t play well’, yet we scored one and won. Now we just had a draw with England and the review be ‘the boys played well’. Football be different chale,” DopeNation wrote.
Media personality Cookie Tee was equally impressed by the team’s performance and believes the Black Stars are capable of competing against any of the tournament’s heavyweights.
“Bring on Spain in the Round of 32, the Black Stars are ready to serve some Ghanaian pepper,” she posted.
YouTube creator Jessica said she had never been this happy about a goalless draw until today.
“I've NEVER been this happy to get a draw in my life!! OMG! #BlackStars.”
The wave of praise came from across the creative industry, with musicians including Kojo Cue, DopeNation, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Mr Eazi, Adina, Fuse ODG, Cina Soul, Kwesi Arthur, Wendy Shay, and Lasmid celebrating the team’s determination and defensive discipline.
Media personalities, actors, and influencers were also caught up in the excitement. Juliet Ibrahim, Efia Odo, Portia Boateng, Anita Akuffo, Cookie Tee, BBNaija winner Tacha, Wode Maya, Uche Jombo, Pere Egbi, Joselyn Dumas, and Nana Aba Anamoah were among the notable figures who applauded the Black Stars for standing firm against England’s attacking threats.
The result leaves both Ghana and England on four points in Group L, with England maintaining top spot while Ghana occupies second place.
