Ghanaian blogger and Shatta Movement loyalist, Webkid, has broken his silence following his release from custody.

He extended a heartfelt gratitude to ‘dancehall king’ Shatta Wale and others who stood by him during his 41-day detention.

Webkid, real name Abdul Gafaru Sani, was arrested on May 7, 2026 in Tema and charged with publication of false news and offensive conduct likely to breach the peace after a formal complaint by Afro-dancehall musician, Stonebwoy.

Prosecutors alleged the blogger used his X account to post defamatory content targeting Stonebwoy and his family.

After 41 days in custody, the Accra High Court granted him bail of GH¢100,000 with two sureties on June 22, 2026.

In a video shared online by Shatta Wale's PR officer, Sammy Flex, an emotional Webkid went down on his knees as he expressed gratitude to the man behind his release.

"I want to thank the man himself, Shatta Wale, for being the voice of the voiceless, the father for the fatherless, for being the voice of the streets, for pulling out hard for me, for doing a song for the boy," he said.

He also extended thanks to the court, his legal team, Sammy Flex, Long John, and others who showed up for him.

"Family isn't about blood, but at certain moments, it really went hard for me. Your boy is finally out. Thanks for the love, thanks for the support," he said.

During Webkid's detention, Shatta Wale had recorded an official support track titled Webkid (Shatta Music) on May 12, 2026, and dramatically stormed the Accra High Court alongside his management team on the day the bail was secured, with a crowd of SM fans gathered outside chanting assuring words in solidarity with Webkid.
