The Rector of GH Schools, Leslie Addo Listowel, has highlighted the institution’s commitment to producing industry-ready graduates, stressing that the school’s focus is on practical training rather than competing with other vocational institutions.

Speaking after the graduation of the school’s 21st batch of students at Achimota, Listowel said GH Schools’ unique approach lies in ensuring every student demonstrates practical competence before progressing to the next stage of training.

“We are a TVET-accredited training institution. Whatever you do in class, you have to come and show it to management. If you do not achieve, you go and do it again before you continue,” he said.

According to him, the assessment model cuts across all departments, including media, fashion, and cosmetology, ensuring graduates leave the institution with practical skills that meet industry expectations.

Listowel also credited the school’s investment in industry-standard equipment and experienced professionals for preparing students for the workplace.

“Everything that industry is using for their production, we have it here. Our students work on industry-ready productions, and the equipment we use is industry equipment,” he said, adding that the school also relies on lecturers who are active industry practitioners.

He further revealed plans to expand the school’s flexible learning model by introducing dawn classes to complement its existing morning, afternoon, and evening sessions, allowing working professionals to pursue their education more conveniently.

Addressing the graduating students, the rector encouraged them to remain focused on excellence, insisting that success begins with the right mindset.

“Everything has to do with your mind. If you set your agenda towards achieving, you definitely achieve,” he said.

Listowel also dismissed suggestions that GH Schools should engage in public comparisons with other institutions, insisting that the school’s reputation is built on the quality of its graduates.

“I’m not into that game. What I am into is how to train my students to fit into the industry. We are training our students to be the best out there. Industry will judge, industry will tell us,” he stated.

He added that positive feedback from employers, including media organisations that actively seek GH Media graduates, reinforces the institution’s commitment to producing professionals who are ready to excel in the workplace.
